Business
Continuity Management (BCM) / Crisis and
Emergency Management (CEM)
Emergency, crisis and business continuity
management (ECBCM) are often handled as
separate SILO practices.
At Mondial, we believe that the one is a
natural continuum of the other. |
 |
CEM/BCM is not something
that is divorced from an organisation’s
enterprise risk management practices,
it is recognised as a means of risk
treatment or risk response for certain
risks. We acknowledge that some risks
cannot be treated, typically from
external sources, and that no matter
how well risks are managed, sometimes,
bad things will happen.
When they do, it has been well documented
that those organisations that are

The
recovery processes are often

better focused and better
organised if pre-event planning
has taken place. |
|
prepared for it often gain a strategic advantage
and are better positioned to recover the
organisation’s core abilities faster
than those who are not prepared. The recovery
processes are often also more cost effective,
better focused and better organised if pre-event
planning has taken place.
Most organisations end up with a myriad
of emergency, crisis, evacuation, business
and other recovery plans, often misaligned
and ineffective when called upon. We see
the need for an integrated and fit for purpose
strategy as a key success factor for any
organisation. Such a plan should always
aim to safeguard human life, followed by
the protection of the natural environment
and only then the protection and recovery
of a specific organisation’s assets,
brand and practices. Maintaining and practicing
such a plan must also be an imperative.
We have experienced too many ‘plans’,
drawn up years ago, that have never been
communicated or practiced. If, like us,
you believe in a dynamic, fit for purpose,
relevant and integrated approach to emergency,
crisis, and business continuity management,
give us and call and we will happily discuss
any specific requirements that you may have.
